How to ensure your Wix site is GDPR compliant
You may have heard some buzz lately about the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which comes into force on May 25th, 2018. What is it and how will it affect your website? The GDPR in a nutshell, aims to protect the fundamental right to privacy and the protection of personal data of European Union (EU) citizens.
This regulation affects any entity (including websites) that processes EU citizens' personal data. Even if you or your business are not located in the EU, if anyone in the EU visits your site, or if your marketing campaigns (including sending email campaigns through Shout Out, Mailchimp, Constant Contact or any other email platform) target EU citizens, this affects you.

What Does This Have To Do With Your Website?
What the GDPR boils down to is transparency and communication with your site visitors. As part of the new regulation, you must let your site visitors know how you collect, store, and use their data, in a clear and transparent way. You must also comply with your site visitors' requests to receive a copy of their data that is processed on your site.
How to prepare your Wix site for GDPR
In the "Help and Support" section of your Wix site, there is an in-depth article outlining in detail what you need to know and how to get your site GDPR ready. I highly recommend reading it and becoming familiar with the information. Simply head over to the question mark in the upper right hand corner when you log into your site and click on it. Once in the Help Center, search for GDPR. You'll see there are several articles pertaining to this regulation along with helpful links.
